The Last Rose of Summer
Working for City Eye, Aaron is currently documenting the creation of 'The Last Rose of Summer' a brand new one-act musical inspired by Jane Austen’s life and her connection to Southampton. The show has been created by Mayflower Studios and writers Daisy Chute and Rebecca Brewer, marking the 250th year since Jane Austen's birth. Featuring a cast of 50 talented local young people, including choreography from prestigious dance companies Birmingham Royal Ballet and Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures.
Cultural Work Experience
For City Eye, Aaron recently created a short film for the Southampton Cultural Education Partnership that documented and promotes their new 'Cultural Work Experience' project. The film highlights key partners, including Mayflower Theatre, ZoieLogic, In Focus, City Eye & John Hansard Gallery.
Mazepa's Ride
For City Eye, Aaron recently acted as a Camera & Lighting Assistant on Mazepa's Ride a new exhibition by Ukrainian artist Mykola Ridnyi.
The exhibition was shown at the John Hansard Gallery, Southampton, 31 May – 6 September 2025.
The Sister Queens
For City Eye, Aaron is currently documenting the creation of two bronze statues by sculptor Amy Goodman that depict HM Queen Elizabeth II at different stages of her life.
Pub Cultures
For City Eye, Aaron edited Southampton Forward’s Pub Cultures project, filmed by Solent University students.
The project celebrates the rich stories, communities and characters at the heart of Southampton’s pubs – brought to life through 9 new bespoke artworks created for 9 local venues.
BFI Film Academy 2024-25
Aaron supported the production of 'Midnight' by City Eye’s BFI Film Academy Short Course students 2024-25.
An office party on New Years Eve 1999, feels the effects of the Y2K virus.
Last Bit of the Moon
For City Eye, Aaron worked with Opera Up Close to create a 15 minute filmed prologue to Vaughn Williams' Riders to the Sea.
The footage was integrated into the touring production through the use of projection.
Alan Whitehead Film
For City Eye, Aaron worked with Jen German to record a heartfelt retirement film for former Labour MP for Southampton Test, Alan Whitehead.
Pictured is Dave Bull, former Deputy Leader of Southampton City Council who was interviewed for the film.
Home Theatre
For City Eye, Aaron edited Southampton Forward’s Home Theatre documentary, filmed by Solent University students and directed by Olivier Award-winning Kerry Kyriacos Michael MBE.
Home Theatre Southampton brought together over 100 participants and 33 creative professionals—including directors, theatre makers, stage managers, and filmmakers. Together, they co-created 11 intimate performances, hosted in homes across the city and inspired by the unique personal stories of their hosts.
Satvir Kaur Campaign Film
In June 2024 City Eye were approached by Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Southampton Test, Satvir Kaur, to create a campaign video in the run up to the general election.
Satvir was keen to work with City Eye because it's a Southampton-based film organisation. Watch here.
A Night Like This
Aaron worked as B-Cam operator on the debut film from director Liam Calvert.
A Night Like This stars Alexander Lincoln, Jack Brett Anderson, David Bradley and tells the story of two seemingly mismatched men who form an unexpected connection over the course of one cold London night.
Aaron also facilitated work experience on the film for students of City Eye's BFI Film Academy Short Course and other networks.
1999 - Supporting Emerging Talent
Aaron supported director Harry New in bringing his debut short film 1999 to life. What began as an idea in the City Eye Writers’ Group gradually evolved into a fully-fledged project, with a talented crew formed through City Eye's 1825 Filmmakers group and alumni from the BFI Film Academy.
A woman alone at Xmas 1999 has to contend with a nuisance door-to-door salesman.
The Eel Run
The Eel Run is a project created by writer Deborah Gearing & producer Katie Daley-Yates to celebrate the European eel and inform audiences of their growing scarcity. The project resulted in two films made by City Eye. The Eel Run, a documentary and The Eel Wife, a poem film written in the voice of Ann Clarke, a woman from the 1800s who used to own an Eel trap on the river Itchen. It is performed by Gearing.
Turner Sims Welcome Film
For City Eye, Aaron worked with Turner Sims Concert Hall to produce their access film, presented by pupils of Bassett Green Primary School.
BFI Film Academy 2023-24
Aaron supported the production of ‘Piece’ by City Eye’s BFI Film Academy Short Course students 2023-24.
The story of a wannabe graffiti artist, Max, played by the inimitable Scarlett Rayner (Silverpoint, Trying).
Aaron enjoyed helping to bring this project to life. Working with the students and colleagues Glen Jevon, Susan Beckett, Özgen Alpoglu (Reactive Audio Visual), Rachel Stephens to help make it happen.
Bijan Moosavi: GHT.2058: Asylo-Jannat
For City Eye, Aaron worked with God's House Tower and artist Bijan Moosavi to produce a video documentary about his exhibition, GHT.2058: Asylo-جنّت. Part of 'a space arts' Art for Climate Action Programme, this immersive exhibition submerges the viewer in a fictional near-future climate dystopia created by neoliberal negligence and greed. Comprised of various materials and media hinting at climate catastrophes, science fiction dystopias, marketing overhype and Islamic Kitsch. On display at GHT from June 24 until August 13.
What's Next Southampton?
For City Eye, Aaron produced a short film documenting ‘What’s Next Southampton?’ a free festival celebrating arts, fashion and music in Southampton’s Cultural Quarter on June 24. It was created by the SCEP and their group of young ‘Cultural Connectors’ who worked hard to pull off such an ambitious event. The festival also enabled cultural organisations to engage with a wide variety of activities. City Eye provided a stop motion animation and sound recording experience which were a big hit with children, young people and their families.
Better Lives Through Culture
For City Eye, Aaron worked with Southampton Cultural Education Partnership to document their 'Better Lives Through Culture' project (in collaboration with Artswork) which brought creative mentors, artists, schools and young people together to strengthen links to industry and enrich their lives through education and culture. SCEP members range from small to large-scale creative, cultural and heritage organisations, schools, colleges and universities to youth-focused charities and local authority youth services.
Jittish Kallat: Tangled Hierarchy
For City Eye, Aaron made promotional material, including a new short film featuring an interview with Jitish Kallat on how the exhibition Tangled Hierarchy originated, alongside a tour of the works included. To mark the 75th anniversary of India’s Day of Independence, 15 August 2022.
Knuckledust
Aaron assisted as D.I.T on the 2020 British action-thriller film 'Knuckledust' written and directed by James Kermack.
Police discover an elite fight club where they find seven underground levels, filled with the dead bodies of fighters from around the world. Only one man is found left alive. The task force has to work out if he is a mass murderer or the lone survivor.
Hands Off
Aaron recorded sound for the short film 'Hands Off' by Laurence Essex.
A weekend getaway turns bloody for a social media influencer and her friends, after one of them reads passages from a satanic tome. Possession, hack job amputations, and demonic entities. It's all content as far as she's concerned.
Radley AW20 Shoots
Aaron supported John Rowley and the Radley London creative team as a sound recordist & lighting assistant on their AW20 winter shoot.
Ann Summers 'It's a Feeling'
Aaron supported photographer John Rowley and the Ann Summers creative team as an assistant on their 'It's a feeling' Christmas campaign film 2020.
Aaron also recorded sound on several internal and external marketing films during this period.
Alien: Containment
Aaron worked as Boom Operator on the short film Alien: Containment, made to celebrate Alien's 40th anniversary. Written and directed by Chris Reading.
Four survivors find themselves stranded aboard a small escape pod in deep space. Trying to piece together the details around the outbreak that led to their ship's destruction, they find themselves unsure to trust whether or not one of them might be infected.
Aaron later welcomed Director Chris Reading to speak at City Eye's monthly Film Network and deliver a masterclass for the BFI Film Academy Short Course 23-24.
Stub Hub
Aaron worked with director Ash Warner to edit a proof of Concept advert for StubHub, created by WEAREPLOT.
A Bunch of Clowns
Aaron worked with director Ash Warner to edit a short artist film 'A Bunch of Clowns.'

Original Gangster
Aaron worked as Assistant Editor on the film 'Original Gangster' directed by Savvas D.Michael.
The stoic chronicles of Castor, orphaned as a child, forced to survive in the wild and his colorful journey through the criminal underworld of London.
The film stars Ian Reddington, Sean Cronin & Steve Gutenburg.
The Straight & Narrow
The Straight & Narrow, Aaron's first short film, originally released in 2017 is being remastered in time for its 10th Anniversary in 2027.
A new poster has been commissioned, designed by Haven Bear and can be viewed here.
The Straight & Narrow tells the story of Tony (Thomas Beatty) who returns home from prison to heal the estranged relationship with his father (Grahame Edwards).
